About Us

Our Society

The England Parkinson’s Golf Society (EPGS), created in close partnership with Sports Parkinson’s, was founded on 6 November 2023 with a simple but powerful purpose: to open up meaningful exercise opportunities for golfers living with Parkinson’s. Our aim is to support wellbeing, ease symptoms, and strengthen connection within a growing Parkinson’s community.
To bring this mission to life, we organise annual golf events across England—building on the incredible momentum established by Sports Parkinson’s.

We are also committed to exploring new opportunities both across the UK and internationally, ensuring our members have access to inspiring, enjoyable, and inclusive golfing experiences. The EPGS is proudly inclusive. Our membership reflects that commitment, welcoming all golfers diagnosed with Parkinson’s, along with their partners and carers who support them on and off the course.

How Can Golf Support Life With Parkinson’s?

Social Connection and Community

Golf naturally brings people together. Shared rounds, friendly competition, and supportive conversation help reduce isolation and build a sense of belonging — something many people with Parkinson’s deeply value.

Gentle, Low‑Impact Exercise

Golf offers steady, rhythmic movement that supports mobility without placing strain on joints. This kind of low‑impact activity can help maintain flexibility and overall physical confidence.

Improved Balance and Coordination

The act of swinging, walking varied terrain, and focusing on posture encourages balance and coordination skills that are valuable in everyday life.

Boosted Mood and Mental Wellbeing

Being outdoors, connecting with nature, and enjoying purposeful activity can lift mood, reduce stress, and support emotional resilience — all of which are especially meaningful for those living with Parkinson’s.

Cognitive Engagement

Golf requires planning, focus, and decision‑making. This gentle mental challenge helps keep the mind active and engaged in a positive, enjoyable way.

A Sense of Achievement

Whether it’s a great shot, a completed round, or simply showing up, golf offers regular moments of accomplishment. These small wins can build confidence and reinforce a positive outlook.
